WHAT IS THIS SITE?
This is the story of my ongoing journey researching the history of Henry Thorne & Company of Leeds (Thorne’s). For about thirty years I have been looking for information on Thorne’s, piecing together their history, and this site tells how far I have come.
The site is not a record of Thorne’s history. Ten full lever arch files, several spreadsheets, hundreds of electronic files and a family tree contain that and are still growing. Closing the research gaps is my focus prior to writing up the history – coming someday soon!
important NOTE
I am not a confectionery manufacturer, wholesaler or retailer. The company that makes confectionery today under the name Thorne’s is not associated with me or this website and I have no route to pass messages to them. Also, I am not a dealer, therefore I’m unable to value items. From my experience of buying Thorne’s ephemera, the prices vary considerably, and often not predictably, depending on who is selling and the interest in the item.
